 Pied Stilt shot during my lunch break, using my son's new Pentax K-r. If there's a better value entry level DSLR on the market today I'd like to see it.

Simple editing. Brought out detail of the dark areas of the wings using the Light EQ feature of ACDSee Pro and adjusted saturation of the reds and blues. Resized, sharpened, added border, saved as JPEG.

Pied Stilts are more commonly found in quite large flocks:

but for some reason this guy was alone, hanging out with a bunch of gulls and ducks.

Perfect timing! I quite like the abstractness of the reflection too. For me this may have been slightly over-sharpened with some haloing around the beak and legs. But this doesn̢۪t take much away from the image which was one of my equal highest votes for this challenge. Well done!

Unfortunately the neck stripe distractingly blends with the right wing. Also, there are a handful of distracting reflections on the water (such as right near the beak). Aside from those things, spectacular shot. Catching the wingtip touching the water was just fantastic.

Highlights a little blown out on top of head. Try shooting 1 stop down next time. Otherwise, really nice grab!
