 About twenty minutes before sunrise. One shot HDR using Nik's HDR package and a wickedly crunchy preset (#19, if you're wondering). Way overcooked, but strangely turned out to look a wee bit like Iceland and not a sea in the middle of the California desert.

And yes, this was even shot specifically for the challenge! Intentionally overexposed to pick up the light. The white blobs in the water are mostly seagulls, by the way.

Good use of the classic compositional technique of a triangle. I like the cool colors. Other than the title, I'm not seeing much "night" here, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
