 The setup for this was intended for the "half"-themed competition. Could not get the lighting right to darken only half of my face, stereotypical as that would have been though, so got this instead. I liked the smoke in this one.

Forgot to explain the title "The Cuban habit" more before entry. It sorta has two meanings.
Habit meaning the addiction to smoking but also habit as in the head-gear that nuns wear.
I thought it was appropriate seeing how the smoke frames my head in this shot.

This is an amazingly well done portrait! I love the detail and the composition, but in general, it's just pleasing to look at.

A wonderful shot. Great pose. Great smoke.Great dark, sharp eyes. If I wanted to be picky, I'd ask for just the slightest amount of back light so I could get better definition between the model's head and the dark BG. Really nice work.

Very interesting image Niall. So many detail to focus on: the eyes, the hand, the cigarillo, the smoke etc. Personally, I really like this composition, especially with the dark negative space to the right of the figure (although I'm sure some will tell you to crop tighter). Only "negative" comment is the face seems to be lacking some detail, especially around the eyes and cheeks. I think maybe part of that is clipping of the blacks?

Anyway, I think this is a good entry...I suspect it will do 5.8ish?

I have something for smoking pictures. I like this one too. The smoke in the shot, the look in his face, almost as if he's asking please let me stop I don't want this anymore. Very intruding. I like it a lot.

I like how thesmoke has formed a sort of headpiece. Nicely done with the toned B&W.
