 Was at my wife's grandparent's house and this little guy just sat there and let me take a bunch of pictures. Used my Sigma 70-300mm.

Cropped, curves, contrast, converted to Bronze quadtone (thanks Pedro), levels, resize, USM.

Not sure how people will accept a squirrel as an object, but we'll see. He is eating a piece of corn (object). I like it! :-)

If you've seen Funny Farm with Chevy Chase, you should know where "Andy" comes from.

I don't think of an animal as an "object." Good photo if entered in an appropriate category.

Fabulous photo. Perfect focus, the eyes are nice and sharp. Cute pose. Nice shallow DOF. Unfortunately, I don't count people or animals as objects. So to me, as great as the photo is, it doesn't meet the challenge of "Everyday Objects". (Maybe if the title were "Andy the Acorn gets eaten", then the squirrel wouldn't be the subject and thereby the 'object', but by the title, I assume your subject is the squirrel.)

now THAT is a great animal portrait. notice, the NOSE is IN FOCUS...i'll give you points for that! as to the everyday aspect of the picture, i guess andy is a pet?
