 I took this picture at a grocery store by my house, it's a homeless man that goes by the name river. He had a wife and dogs with him but I didn't decide to use that photo. I used this one because you can really see how hard of a life he has had by looking at his hand.

I thought this was one of the best shots in the challenge: the dirty, weathered hand is sharp, and although blurred the camo clothing, long hair and red face point to a life on the street. You managed to get a blue sky, too.

The homeless as subject for photography is such a cliché that even saying it's cliché is cliché. Here his anonymity is respected. His angry gesture is the perfect response to someone pointing a camera at him, but softened by the smile, which makes this picture kind of a joy.

Probably got hurt because of the gesture, but that is also the appeal of this shot. It's in your face and unapologetic real life. One of my 10's.
