Standing on the deck of a ferry I took this shot of the two main icons of Sydney Harbour. Several storms had passed over the harbour this day including this one

I was surprised to see they were still taking climbers over the bridge but I'm sure the view at the top would be worth it no matter what the conditions. I feel this image captures Sydney Harbour nicely, despite the rain, from a perspective that is not that common. I know that a cityscape taken from a portrait orientation will not be accepted by some but you can’t please everyone.

I haven't entered my favourite photo as I feel the challenge asked for the 'best' which includes technical’s as well as general appeal. Besides, I do really like this photo anyway. I have kept it personal with the duotone that I enjoy even though it will probably suffer a bit as I feel most people who enjoy b&w do not like the extra processed step. I've never submitted or voted on a 'year best of' before so I'm not too sure how it will compare. But knowing the skill and types of shots that will be entered from DPCers I will be satisfied if this finishes higher than the bottom 20%. So with that I’m predicting a 5.3xxx finish with very few comments.

striking definition of bridge and teeny tiny climbers/pilgrims.

Nice photo and nice job with the border. However this too much going on here, the eye has no focal point. Good Luck

Hehehehe. I took a shot almost identical to this when I visited a few years ago. Marvelous.

I think, here to adhere strictly to the rule of thirds would have made the composition stronger (without your title I would have probably missed the figures climbing the bridge).

I like the complimentary shapes between the architecture of the building vis-a-vis the architecture of the bridge. Nice composition in that regard.
