Interestingly, my eyes instinctively traveled DOWN, and wanted to go down out of the frame, not up, which is what I would have expected.

Definitely lines, but they lead me through and straight out of the photo. It seems that the photo is 'of' the lines, rather than the lines being there as an aid to composition.
