Composition Good although I feel that the chess board gives the impression that it is tilted!
Camera work Good although the motion blur of the moving pieces has carried itself over to the pawns at the top right corner.
Digital processing Good
My Opinion
Novel idea very well executed ! I would have preferred more contrast to the background as the pieces in the front blend into the table.

I would have cropped closer, maybe have shot across the board and profiled the peices. And I think I can see your hand.... But a very interesting and innovative photo. |

A very cool shot. Definately showing the movement to take the piece. I like the angle and framing/cropping as well. The wood grain board looks good on the wood grain table, but the brown pieces kind of blend in a bit. Otherwise, focus and clarity are good. You have done a nice job. Good luck in the challenge. |

Nice idea, but it's not clear as to what "bait" means... I know because I play chess but most won't know... By sacraficing the Black Bishop (taken by the White Knight), you clear the way for the Black Rook to checkmate the White King. :) Right? Very clever. You get an 8 for this. |

Neato! I had this as a 6, only because I think the colors are drab. Woulda preferred a different table. But I like the movement. Looking for string, I am. hehe... so I give ya a 7. Technically some pieces look overexposed while others look underexposed. Focus seems fair. Framed well. hmmmm... maybe if it were b/w? I dunno. |

This looks like multiple overlaid images to me... |

Seems this was done as a time-lapse instead of multi-exposure. The pink on the right (presumably an arm coming in moving pieces) really detracts. Otherwise, the picture was an excellent idea with lots of promise. |

Bait that I always fall for or don't see. Nice composition but the light is your weak spot. The dark pieces at the bottom are lost and the white are not white. A little level adjustment might of impoved the color. Not a bad photo. |

you'd have to be a pretty bad chess player to put your queen in that position when you could have taken the rook and mate was very close. |

Hmm... it's a nice image, but the evidence of the hand used to knock over the king is all too present. (Then again, you may have wanted it like this.) However, I'd have thought it would have been better to tie some fishing line around the king and pull it over mid-exposure instead of using a hand. |

excellent idea! I only have a problem with the pink smudge on the right and the background seems kind of uneven... I really like the idea though... superbly done! 6 |
