There were a lot of wonderful images in this Free Study and I think this is one of 4 for top honors by me. Congratulations. |

I respectfully disagree. The less-blurry ground helps anchor the scene. And too much blur down there would compete with the blur of the subjects, thereby reducing the effect.
All of this misses the point, of course. Technical overanalysis aside, I think both Paul and I agree that this image is a winner. |

Marla, I suppose 5.2 is a good score for a pinhole. Check out your commenter's score! Ha.

I'm not going to guess who this lovely image belongs to, but I feel sure it's a pinhole. I find this utterly captivating. |

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Lots of things to push my buttons here, the coloration, the blur, the grain - all lovely. The strata provides the perfect backdrop to the scene and indeed the moving figures are seemingly at one with the geology behind them.
Critical stuff: Not much, perhaps I would like to have seen even more blur of the ground below their feet as the strong texture tends to pull the eye away from the stronger parts of the image.
Overall: A really good looking shot. |
