Quite proud of this one. It's very simple, but really like the bright yellow and it's contrast with the black tire. Really wish my LR3 had arrived by now, since I would've loved to have done some dodging and burning. Oh well, did the best I could with DPP.

Hmm. I liked this shot. I gave it 7. I liked the lines and curve of the wheel along with the texture of the tyre and the contrasting yellow and black.

One problem is that the bright spot draws the eye to the bottom right. You must realise that this competition was titled "wheels"... which suggests that the eye should instead be drawn to the wheels in your shot. The centre of the wheel pulls me away from the black rubber every time. The yellow is at the intersection of two thirds lines, which is normally where you'd want to put your main subject for a thirds composition. I think that's why I'm being drawn towards it.
I like the tight crop. It saturates the viewer with 'wheel'... I don't think that's a bad thing... but I'm no great photographer :) I just like what I like and I liked that!

Greetings from the Critique Club

As a relatively new member to DPC, I suppose this is the first critique you will have received via the critique club. I hope I do not offend you in any way, but feel free to contact me directly if you would like further feedback.

We're a tough crowd to please here on DPC. Always looking for that little bit extra.

This image met the challenge, no question, however, it is missing the little bit extra I referred to above.

From a technical perspective, the centre of the hub is a little bit blown out. A quick fix in editing software would sort this out, which I gather you may now have, but didn't have at the time of entry.

I find the composition to be a bit tight. It may have been better to step back a bit and include the top of the wheel, giving the image a more complete feel, perhaps some context.

Overall, not a bad start, but just lacking some wow factor.

I liked this one and gave it a 6. I like the contrast between the black and yellow, and I like how the words on the tire really pop out. Nicely done, and welcome to DPC!!

The hub is too bright for my taste. I prefer the black sidewall being the brighter portion.
