This lonely tree is still standing after the New Years Eve tornado which hit wester Arkansas. It is less than 75 yards from where an elderly woman lost her life when her home was flattened. Eight people died in the storm - four in Arkansas and four in Missouri.

What a story. Great looking tree, wish you had backed up a few steps and got the whole thing in.

A load of trees were damaged or brought down by the heavy snowfall where I am recently. Weather can be so destructive, as shown by your story about this shot.

Tornadoes are so random. Beautiful picture of this tree.

What a terrible incident.

Good photo. Could you have stepped closer so that you could have avoided having the fence in the shot? Unless the fence was part of it on purpose.

Barren trees are one of my favorites. They have such character. Sad story.

Rest in Peace. The things trees would say, if they could speak.

It amazes me how random the effects of such storms can be. 75 yards away, a house was flattened and a life lost yet not a limb lost from tis tree.

Sorry for the loss in this area. What a strong tree in spite of the damage around it.

Oh my goodness, the story is so sad. Thanks for sharing it. I suppose it's some sort of testament that this tree still stands.
