On a trip to North Carolina we visited the WNC Nature Center. We saw the wolves, foxes, hawks, eagles, otters, bobcat, deer and Art the Barn Owl. The Black Bears were, of course, hibernating (so unfortunately we did not see them)
I wish this grey fox's partner had not walked away before I pulled out my camera but it still a good shot.

My thanks to Bear Music and my husband for a better title - both were good suggestions - far better than what I had. From the two suggestions sprouted a haiku :-)

The Winter Fox

Winter white blanket
Weary grizzle-grey fox furled

I've had some questions as to how close and what lens I was using. There is one large glass window at the Nature Preserve that allow one to get a really clear look at these lovely animals. This little Grey Fox was 12 feet from the window. I just used the Cannon 18-55mm lens that came with the camera.

There was only 7 -10 people who braved the cold that day to walk the Preserve - temperature was 38 degrees and the sun was under constant cloud cover.

I'm not sure what it is about his coat...I think it might be over sharpened, making it look a bit hard
