 This is the pagoda at the famous Kek Lok Si Temple (Temple of Supreme Bliss) in Penang, Malaysia. It cost $180,000 Straits Dollars. The 10-acre site was purchased in 1893, and the temple was completed in 1904. An official opening ceremony was conducted on 13 January 1905.

I had hoped - indeed expected - that this would finish at the very least in the top 20. Certainly in my top 3 of the challenge. A thoroughly interesting photo.
