 I'm not sure, but I think she was calling for me. Her words were drowned out by the soft rumbles of the world around. I was lost in thought, and wasn't paying much attention. She gently teased me later, while we enjoyed the last sunset of the year together.

This was one of those shots that I loved the moment I saw it on the camera's LCD right after taking it. I had taken time to compose this image with the second flower in the background placed "just so", but I had captured something much better than expected, so the emotional impact was great. I had many other shots that I took during December that also invoked great personal pride, but I kept thinking a lot about this one while going through 100+ "candidate" entry images. It's such a struggle to choose when several shots are above the personal "wow" threshhold.

My first thought of a title for this image was simply "echoes", and then I started thinking of more emotionally evocative titles and words, which finally led to "echoes of her voice". It inspired me to continue the line with other poetic imagery, and that's how I knew that it was the right title.

Beautifully composed. Black and white was an inspired choice, though I suspect it was part of your vision all along.

for me...the center of the flower needs to be super, super sharp in focus...you've got the petals down but my eye goes to the center first then follows the line of the petals
