Thanks for the comments and I did forget to mention that flash was used which accounts for the brightness of the flower over the background.
Yes, I should have use a smaller f/ stop to get a bit more DOF.

| I had thought of trying to capture one of my Christmas Cactus's now I guess I will have to try it after all...superb detail...well done |

| This is a nice photo, and it looks like you softened the light a bit. But at the same time, the flower feels overly bright for the brightness of the background. |
