Another shot of the ruins of the Swift plant in Fort Worth, taken on the same outing as my "Inside looking out" entry. Same window, different perspective.

I wasn't sure this would suit either "inside looking out" or "Outside looking in". It's more like "looking through". I do expect at least a couple of people to identify this as my entry because of the subject. It was taken the day before "Layers" was announced, and I revisited the site intending to reshoot this for it, but then realized another part of the ruins was far more suitable for that challenge. So, freestudy entry it is.

I thought this looked familiar. I almost commented that it looked like a Layers outtake. Good stuff.

Hehe, you really like that spot don't you Spiffy. This time framing the window framing the building works nicely. Judging by the shadow on the window sill I'm guessing this was taken at the same time as the other with the lovely colours. Was your choice to go b&w a decision to differentiate from your other shot? I̢۪m not sure if it really works here but that may be because I know the other shot. Looking closer I feel you̢۪ve done a good job of the conversions. I especially like the effect on the broken glass. Good luck.

Well, I'm starting to recognize the FW stockyards.... Spiff, this one has to be yours.

I like the perspective here, but this might have been nice in HDR as I see hints of a fascinating interior.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: This is a much stronger image than my first quick look through revealed - the interplay between the two orthogonal window frames is excellent - frames within frames within frames. It offers a wonderful sense of perspective.

The 'KTK' lettering in the middle jumps right out at you and the light, as it hits the residual glass, is lovely.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all.

Overal:: An image I've really gotten to like - a significant bump from 6 to 8.

An image worthy of deep exploration. There are many layers, each offering visual delights. The front frame has strong diagonal lines, and interesting remnants which could either be ice or glass. The room behind it is filled with mystery and delicious tonal variances, making me wonder what happened in there, what longing soul peered out these windows and longed to be elsewhere. The distant building seems foreboding and almost caricature-ish - like a sorcerer's castle designed by Rube Goldberg. As lovely as it is, we miss an anchoring element, something the typical viewer can relate to, without having to weave their own story. With the large number of entries in the typical FS, an intellectually stimulating image such as this suffers greatly.

I love the multiple layers to this photograph. The black and white really helps with this moody shot. Great work. 7
