July? I think your forgetting that its an international site! lol Its winter here. Now back to the photo. I think the very tight crop will hurt your vote. It also looks a little flat so maybe if the contrast was tweeked a bit it would help add that wow factor.

this one is a great idea and looks like it took some time, but...the size kills it. Hard to make a proper judgement of it at this distance

would like to see more of the red/white/blue as it's part of the story. white bits are distracting.

The highlights here are very blown out, and make it hard to see the image. Perhaps if you lowered your exposure time or used a different aperture? Also, the two colors of chocolate make it look less like it's melting and more like there's chocolate syrup on top. Try a hairdryer to melt the edges more convincingly, or melt the same type of chocolate and pour that down first.
