 Just the kit lens on my D-Rebel, handheld. Took about 40 or so shots of these truffles, which are handmade by a local ice cream shop called Shuberts.

The cocoa powder is Ghirardelli baking cocoa from the grocery store. Lit naturally from the right by north-facing window and by 550ex bounced off a manila envelope.

Played around with custom WB settings on the Rebel and I would recommend doing so to anyone who's frustrated with the results of the AUTO, Shade, etc. white balance settings on the D-Rebel. Had fun taking this one and then eating the props. The "all milk" was the best (middle), followed closely by the french vanilla (foreground).

First attempt at using a border. Hope it goes over well.

I like it but...my eyes dont like the angle too much. But im not a photography critic...I cant take pictures that good...but just a comment!

I was considering a macro shot too. I really like this, nice crispness on the chocolate powder. Might have chosen a deeper DOF personally. Nice lighting and colour too.

Great use of shallow DOF and I love this angle, it gives an intimacy that put the shot at the top of the class. Might well be on the cover of a cookbook.

Nice choice of DOF and of quirky angle. Three itsems together is always visually pleasing and I like the way use it to give depth to the image. The chocolatey surface works well too.

I like the overall lighting and depth of field to enhance the colors and textures of the chocolate. Although I have to admit that they look a little like the pods in the movie Alien. A shot I would expect to see in a cooking book, and it certainly portrays an appealing product.
