Jupiter & 4 moons. I did this by putting the lens of my P&S cam directly on the eyepiece of my Meade telescope. It's a little shaky because I was hand holding the camera against the telescope eyepiece. This trick works nicely with binocs too, if you have them. I need to make a mount to hold the camera on the telescope so that I can use the self timer and not shake the scope. I bought the telescope to use as a camera lens, and it works pretty well for that if you like the mirror lens bokeh. It's a 1,000 mm f11, Cat, tele, and it came with a cam attachment, plus a couple of eyepieces and a right angle mirror, which turns the image right side up.
I used the "night" preset for this. Processing, highlights down some, crop to about 50%.
This was shot, Nov, 10, 9:58 PM.
Since this was a P&S SC, I did this with the P&S instead of attaching my DSLR to the scope. |

Love the shot. I have toyed with the idea of getting a telescope for just such purposes. You might find one of these in my portfolio too ;-) |

Wow! One planet and 4 moons in one catch. I'll take your word for it, since I'm absolutely non-astronomical. Looks like a simple photo, but reading your story it's quite complicated. |

Cool! I'll have to try that too. I've taken shots through just about everything I can lay hands on, but I haven't tried the telescope yet. |

Sweet! I never thought to try taking a shot through the telescope eye piece. You come up with some great ideas. Thank for sharing. I may have to try that tonight, skies willing. |
