Yeah!!! I had a good feeling about this :-D

Thank you all for such a great score, and for all the comments, it's been a fun week!

A little background on the photo:
It was 10pm last day for submission when I remembered that the challenge was Metal on Metal. I had been the whole week without inspiration, and that was really a last minute shot.

i asked my girlfriend if she would come with me, after a day's work, drive half an hour to and fro, just to take a picture.

Well, there we went, the conditions were brilliant, and thanks to my Siggy 10-20 the perspective is very interesting.

It's a 38 seconds exposure, and with just added saturation, as the bridge was providing a very nice green cast.

Then it was just warming up a bit with white balance, contrast and sharpening.

Thank you all again for the ribbon!

Great shot João! ... and another megascore!

If you don't mind I have a few critics.
I would have decentered the subject (to the right) adding more dynamics to the photo. The subject with it's strong lines and perspective is drawing attention to the bridge but unfortunately that attention is thrown out of the frame.
Focus also seems a bit off (on the bridge and on the farther tip of the crane) but you have an excuse with such low light.

Keep it up, it's always great to see what you can come up with, week after week!
I hope to rejoin you guys later in the year but I had a reasonable deal for my camera so I had to sell it.
Perhaps I'll put in a few with the Fuji compact... :)

Looks like your shadow in the foreground. Photog shadows rank right up there with reflections of the camera as a no-no in an image.

now this one is a winner. sadly, there was no competition. all the other entries did not take the challenge very well. but even if there were a handful of entries that deserve good praises, this one stands out. blue from me, if not top ten.

This is a great find and well shot. I particularly like the similar colours of the sky with the crane and how it's softness contrast nicely with the sharpness of your subject. The bridge and city in the background adds extra interest to your shot.

A couple of things that don't quite work for me is the over brightness of the lights and that they are also not very sharp (did you use a sturdy tripod and locked your camera mirror?). The shadows around the crane are a little distracting but you may not have had any control over that. I wonder if getting in closer and down lower (shooting up the crane with more sky) may have been worth a try?

I do like this and gave it an 8.

Lover this shot. Good Job! The only downfall I think is the shadow under the counterweight. Still...beautiful! 9.5 rounded up to a 10.
