Post challenge edit:

Thanks all for the great comments and votes!
The scenery was all home-made, about 200m (650 feet) of metal wire was used, and several hours of work :-) Glad you liked it.

Setup:
- Snooted flash+grid from above right
- Snooted flash+blue gel on the wall behind the moon
- Snooted flash on the moon from the left

I also fully processed a version here, which is quite similar (cloned out the wire, and the sides are darker).

while there is a progression of watching your photography improve, which is great, what really amazes me is that you continue to have such creative ideas time and again. The two together are a great combination!

Thanks!
The tree is about 35-40cm high (about 14 inches). Doesn't sound that big, but all the twists ate some length.

The amount of work that you dedicate to your photos is simply amazing, it so puts you on a much higher level than all of us, very creative photo, and great imagination.

Congratulations on the ribbon!

Actually, I must confess that while I designed the scenery and lights, my wife spent much more time than me on the tree's creation... I am really bad at sculpting/drawing things! :)

Sorry about the yellow, Christophe. Can't win 'em all. ;-) Teasing. Terrific job!

My favorite of the challenge. And the blue in my book. Simply terrific vision and execution.

Very unique entry! Great effort in setting it up and the lighting's fantastic. Even the caption's perfect for it. No doubt in my mind - this will get the blue.

I can see the support thread for the moon - too bad it's basic editing.

One of two 9's I gave out - ribbon contender. The lighting is expertly done, and the setup is something so different from everything else in the challenge that I applaud your creativity.

If this is not an art installation at a museum, it must be gyaban. Or someone as seriously demented and brilliant... Simply outstanding in every single way. The concept and execution, the marvelous texture on the ground and the lighting behind the moon; the way the branches seem to sway in an unseen wind. A 10 from me and my prediction for the blue.

the "moon" is hanging by a thin wire. you're allowed to clone that out, i guess, even in basic editing. still a nice photo. good job.
