Challenge: Words (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Bedroom
Date: Jul 12, 2004
Galleries: Portraiture, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Jul 13, 2004

Man, I thought this was the advanced editing. I took the photo so I could manipulate it a little.

Anyway, this is all I have, and I'll post the final version, that I would have liked to submit, after the contest is over.

Very little post processing. I cropped a bit, levels, converted to black and white, and I think a little unsharp mask.

Wow. Every day people here commenting on images amaze me with their complete closed-mindedness. Giving this photo a 1 is more than a disservice to the art and all the photographers here.

I love the shot. Very daring and original compared to most seen here. Alot of people wanna see purdy stuff, and not usually the darker side.
those words are none new to me. I get called them almost daily as an ED RN. Sad huh? To help and still be verbally and emotionally abused. Strikes a cord here. Nice work!!

I expected this to place much higher...of course it's controversial, but it has power...well done. :o)

"You forgot lazy and disrespectful..." Sorry, I immediately thought of that line from "The Breakfast Club" when I saw this. It probably alarms, shocks, or offends some voters, but I think it's quite poignant and fitting for the challenge. :o)

Though provoking. I can see how some might be offended by this.

I think you took this a bit to far. Not my kind of art!

I can relate. Good idea, well displayed. I think the slight under-exposure, and B&W work well for this concept. I don't often score 10's but this gets one.

Well - it looks like your friends know you well! :D

Seriously though, this is a good looking shot and well conceived. A bit more of the lower part of the model would be good. Nice use of white and well exposed.

Wow, this has such a lot of strength behind it. Very powerful. Image could be better - lighting, shadow on face, image quality. But content is disturbing - and striking an emotion like that is surely what was intended. Good one!

Now here's a picture you can find offensive. 1.

I like this photo but the backround is blurry. It looks like this pic is under 150kb. Try to get right on 150 and it should be better.

Did you try this with more words? The whitespace just calls to me to be filled with more words.

This is a great idea, but to have maintained a higher standing I would have made a wiser selection of words. My good marks are its concept and presentation.

You went too far..beyond controversial to vulgar.
Edit.......
Excellent Idea! Evokes strong reaction..it's just turned me off I guess because I think you've gone over the line for the shock value in calling the viewers attention to your point. In any event...I've upped my scoring of this pic..dismissing my negative emotional reaction and just judging the photo.
Good luck with it.

I'm not sure you needed to select some of the words you did to make the point... Might have beena bit of overkill as I would have had the same photographic impression with a few of them left out or substituted. Also would have been more impactful to me to have the subject fill more of the frame and have the words closer together.
