Challenge: In The Style Of: Nixter (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Date: Aug 30, 2010
Aperture: f/4
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/100
Galleries: Urban, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Aug 30, 2010

Tried to emulate his style by having an interesting subject, desaturated image with strong contrast. Add a nixter type border, keep the title lower case, and voila. Oh yeah, and don't forget a person in the background.

The "shadows" on the wall have been created over time as people sit down, and their greasy hair leaves a mark.

VitaminB originally found this spot on one of our photo walks. When this challenge came up, I thought this would fit well.

Jonathan, check page 6 of the T.O.Night newspaper: //tonightnewspaper.com/pdf/2-012.pdf. I thought you had submitted it at first :)

Great shot, congratulations!

(I would doubt the greasy hair hypothesis, because then, the backs would have been greasy too. I think it is simply the contrast of the warmth of the bodies against the cold stone that left the marks over time.)

I cannot understand how this did so well. I only gave it a 9. Ha! I just looked down in the messages because I thought I had commented on it, and I had, and all I had to say was "Awesome." Well, it is. I'm normally more verbose, like now, but that's all I had at the time. Congrats on your blue ribbon. It's a great shot in a million different ways, but truly perfect for this challenge. All the best.

Now that's cool. Square crop with frame hurts it. 6

One of my Uber-Nixtery 10s. And actually my favourite image in the challenge. The marks on the wall make it appear as if the occupants of the seats have been incinerated - the danger signs resonate this menace! Most of all though, I like the figure beyond the door. Were they here, or just passing.... Almost a thriller in a single image. Great stuff.

Fascinating shadows, I like how they are juxtaposed with the solitary figure. I wouldn't be surprised if this is nixter himself. I mean, it does have the characteristic border. ;P 9
