the topic was to have words in your composition.. the pic is good, but doesnt' fit the challenge

Read the challenge........gees!

A very nice shot, but despite the title, IMHO this does not meet the challenge criteria.
07/20/2004 02:28:06 AM
Sorry I dont see it
07/19/2004 06:35:14 PM
very small point -- background pulls just a tad
07/18/2004 05:04:10 PM
Another beautiful picture. Had you snuck in just one word I would be able to give you a 10.... 6

nice composition, slightyl out of focus howerver. The kicker, I don't think it meets the challange, however. "Take a photograph where complete words -- not just individual letters -- play a creative role in your composition"
07/18/2004 02:23:02 AM
Its a good photo but without meeting the challenge criteria I think your score will suffer.
07/18/2004 12:27:37 AM
i'd like to stretch for this, but the challenge seems pretty clear. nice editorial/portrait shot, tho a little soft, I like the tone.
07/17/2004 12:35:23 PM
As well as the non visible words. Sorry, but the challenge was to have words, and there are none. Hence my low score.

This is a good character portrait, but I'm sorry to say, but it's way outside the challenge...

Looks like you've gota bit of motion blur in this shot, will be interested to see what iso/shutter/apeture you were using. Obviously a reasonably small F number/large apeture as the background is nicely blurred, but I wonder if you couldn't have changed your ISO setting up a couple of notches, or pushed it -1 stop? The noice/grain of higher ISO would not have hurt this shot at all, and may have enhanced it a little, and pushing 1 or even 1.5 stops would have been OK as well as the shirt looks a little over exposed.

Dunno what sort of camera you have, but on mine I can take a 'test' metering without looking through the viewfinder, to see what shutter speed I'm metering, and it shows on the LCD on top of the camera, so I can change settings before annoying the 'model' by pointing the obviously at them.

Really nice photo, missed the challenge brief by a country mile, still giving it a 5 as I'm jealous of anyone who has the guts to do street photography like this.. :-).

Wonderful picture - just doesnt meet the challenge of having a word in the photo, I give you a 4 for the picture.

This is one of the best picture i ever seen in this challenge. The title expresses the way how the man is and mood gives it all. and i like that way how the picture is dual tone to create the look of the picture. Great job Gave you a **10**
07/15/2004 12:16:27 PM
I think that's a stretch
07/15/2004 10:03:57 AM
Good portrait, and his story is likely long, however it does not meet the challenge as I interpreted it.
07/15/2004 08:37:11 AM
Great picture for a different challenge...
07/15/2004 06:47:55 AM
A great portrait - well done sepia. But wordless.
07/15/2004 04:45:00 AM
i really like this portrait (I know you're tired of hearing this but I don't see any words)
07/14/2004 05:31:30 PM
Ummm... did you read the challenge descriptor? Not a word to be seen here. Nice portrait, but fails to meet the challenge in a big way. 4
07/14/2004 05:30:08 PM
Ok- i've been extremely extremely critical of people w/o words in this challenge. And several people have used things like "speechless" etc. to make up for this. it's a great photo- kudos- but i'm sorry- i can't score high. it just doesn't meet the challenge- although this holds much more merit than the others, so i can't give it a one. 3.
07/14/2004 04:45:38 PM
very nice .. but there should have been some words...
07/14/2004 03:34:30 PM
i like the picture alot, but the challenge was to include words...
07/14/2004 11:05:14 AM
Good picture, but I see no words in it.
That was supposed to be the key element in the image.
If I'm wrong, please PM me.
07/14/2004 09:52:37 AM
Nice picture - just no words in it! (and a clever title doesn't cut it if your image doesn't meet the challenge - just my opinion).
07/14/2004 08:33:25 AM
where are the words???
07/14/2004 06:26:56 AM
Nice interpretation, but the by the rulers will zap it though.
07/14/2004 04:10:09 AM
wish this had words...really nice shot
07/14/2004 03:07:58 AM
