 I'm predicting either a really high score, or a really low score. Probably the latter. This came out pretty much how I wanted it, but, I don't know if everyone will relate this to freedom. Actually, I know a lot of people won't relate it to freedom.

And I think I'm going to get a lot of too shallow of a depth of field comments. And "what is that thing on the right" comments. It's a cup I put there to have something in front of the ring. Oh, and a lot of "too grainy" comments as well.

So that's about it. Pretty much only resizing in photoshop. Score prediction: 4.5

Yeah, I'm happy. This is my highest placing. I honeslty didn't think a lot of people would understand it, as I wasn't sure I would if I hadn't thought of the idea. I don't know if that makes any sense, but anyway. :)

I think it's a great image. The focus is right where it needs to be. I think the glass (along with the white envelope) helps to frame your faces...which has just the right amount of dof. :-)

I am glad your shot did better then you have predicted. No, i don't think you have to narrow DoF. And no, the "thing" on the right does not bother me, did not see it before reading your note. I wonder if it would have been empty without it...they eye would just wonder off...And to the contrary, i like this Short DoF, it makes it "final" in a way (if you know what i mean). One of my favourites of the competition. Similar idea to my own submission, although done with a lot more subtlety and grace. The handwritten "John" is a really nice touch! Somewhat greater DoF might have been better, since everything but the rings is a little tricky to discern. And I don't think the glass adds anything to the impact - cropping everything to the right of his mouth could make it stronger. In any case, well done.

This is a glass of water away from perfection, (I think that's what is filling the right quarter of the frame?). It just pulls the eye away from the important components of the frame. An 8 anyway.

This doesn't so much say Freedom as it does Loss to me. Love your use of shallow DOF and I like your composition too. Black and white works well for the subject matter. 7

Un-wanted freedom it appears. Everything is great except the blurred glass? on the right edge. The focus on the rings and letter is perfect - the blurred model works really well. It would probably be a better choice just to use the engagement ring and not the wedding band too. Stilll an excellent entry overall.

Great idea and execution. I like the detail on the ring and shallow DOF used. This shot really tells a story and eludes to the theme of freedom. Nice work.

Interesting interpretation of freedom. :-) I like this photo and think it would be better without that glass orwhatever that is in the right foreground. Still, very good shot.
