oh yeah, it wasnt really a macro. i was just trying to imply that we were looking at the building blocks of the universe through a powerful magnifying lens |

The shadows casted are pretty cool, though the subject might be a little bland. |

colorful and clever, but not w/o trails |

This stopped motion, and would be of the clearest state if the focus could have been more defined. A good job of leaving all other elements out of the picture. |

Wow. That is cool. Very abstract. |

Good idea. Don't think macro was the way to go with this one, as it gives you blur when the challenge called for no trails. Leaving the left side of the photo also takes away from your subject. |

The colors are good (slight yellow cast), and I like the composition. Would be much better without the shadows on the bg, though. Moving away from the wall and/or using a light off to one side rather than an on-camera flash would help. |

Weighted al little too far right. Many leading lines, yet no anchor. |

The originality here is great, and so are the colors -- though I think the off-white might be the wrong color to bring out the vibrance of these blocks. Maybe cover it with white paper? My favorite part of this picture is the memory it brings back -- i remember these blocks!!! Ahh... childhood. |

not terribly interesting but stop action alright. |

i think this would be a lot nice with a bit more contrast, maybe even blowing out the wall, which looks a little dirty as is. :) But I like it! |

Nice idea. This would have been much better with a softer color for the background and less shadow. Overall the effect is great. It is sort of an abstract photo. |

I totally dig the way this looks like cubist art. First, a suggestion: I wish that it didn't feel like such a soft focus, even on the pieces that are in the focal plane. Second, a purely subjective preference: I would like this even more as something I'd be interested in hanging if the pieces were made up of less earthy colors and more basic primaries, although I recognize you have to work with what you have. (Hope that makes sense.) |

Focus almost seems a little fuzzy. Looks like your lighting was from a different angle than direct from the camera --based on the shadows. I like that. Did you drop the blocks from top to bottom in fromt of a wall? Or are we looking down at a table? Just curious... doesn't affect the photo quality. |

like the placement of the blocks in the photo. Harsh flash causes distracting shadows tho. Good effort freezing the action. |

i really like the positive and negative play, and love the colours |

I think that having a different lighting angle would have made this better plus parts of it are out of focus |
04/17/2002 01:59:00 PM |
A little fuzzy. Interesting composition though. Maybe would have been a little better without the shadows. |

I love the composition, but feels a bit too bright. |

I like the colors and the chaos of the falling blocks. My only wish is that the image was a little sharper. |

At first, I didn't like the empty space on the left. At my second look, though, I think it gives it motion. Eliminating the dark blocks and using only the bright ones would've added a neat effect, too. |

Nice stop action! I like the fact that the blocks are to the right of center. |

I like the way you cropped this one. Also like the way the shadows add depth to the picture. |
04/17/2002 02:16:00 AM |
colorful. a little out of focus |
04/16/2002 05:08:00 PM |
Framing is a little off and too small of a f stop for the depth of the objects .... good idea ... nice colors |

I used Cuisenaire Rods when I was a kid! |

I like this. I also like that the focus and lighting isn't perfect. |
04/15/2002 02:36:00 PM |
This is a nice stopped motion shot. I'm not in agreement with the framing... I would rather see the blocks in the center of this image and would have rather seen the image vertical instead of horizonta. |

Pretty good. Unique composition, it works somehow. The white area to the left creates a little tension. |
04/15/2002 12:14:00 PM |
nice colours and well stopped but lack of careful cropping lets it down. |
04/15/2002 10:19:00 AM |
cool shot.. I like it except the colors could be brighter |
04/15/2002 09:49:00 AM |
The shadows provide the evidence of motion quite well. Wish it had been framed to leave out all the blank space. |

Much more original than falling water. I like the concept but the photo seems unfocused. |

Nice title, interesting picture. |

meets the challenge, just isn't very attention grabbing. |

nice use of colour in all of the blocks. |
