I am so surprised how well this is doing right now (fingers crossed!). I knew I would get a lot of "is it real" comments.... but yes it is real. I shot this with my little casio handheld at the grand canyon. it only has a 3X zoom so i was really really close to these things. It was amazing. I showed the picture to a park ranger who said she had never even seen a baby big horn sheep before.

I was hesitant to enter it because of the infinite depth of field. I wanted to bring the attention more onto the little sheep, so I HDRed the background and left the two sheep original.

I'm soooo excited about how well this is doing! 6.92 on day 5! certainly will be a new PB but man is it tiring hitting that update button every 5 minutes haha!

Stunning scene! I suspect I am not the only one to wish you could have gotten mom's entire head in the shot, but with wildlife one takes what one can get ;-) The light and shadow, the gorgeous blues and purples in the background, and the detail ... really a wonderfully beautiful image.

Oh come ON! How's anyone supposed to compete with stuff like this!!!! Love that you used a deep dof to preserve the canyon view (with such dramatic lighting), and the sheep up front. Incredible detailing overall, and the clor is perfect. Front page.
