I found this orb weaver and brought him home. I set him upon my spider set. Just a small piece of wood, with two sticks vertical on each end. Once we had our web formed, I started to set up for shooting. Camera was on a tripod with self timer at 2 seconds. Exposure set to 20 seconds. Window light from the side, lit his underneath. While I held two very small LED lights down and behind him. One red and the other blue. This created the electric backlighting effect. All windows were shut to eliminate drafts. Oh and the spider was very still also. Just that day, he shed his skin. Very cool waking up to two spiders! Thanks spider man!

That first sentence just kills me. And the second one slams the lid on the coffin!!! A spider set??? And I thought I had an odd hobby.... Around here, the best spiders can hope for is to get tossed out the window.

I'm not sure what's going on around DPC but suddenly there's spiders EVERYWHERE...

I have no idea how you took this...or how you got that colour? I am intrigued.

Interesting coloration - did you shoot this set to florescent light, maybe? Title is a bit of a stretch, but that's true for a lot of the challenge.

Very cool photo. Sat and stared at this one for a while! How did you get it looking neon like you did?

Stunning, a winner. You used lighting and background instead of Photoshop. Well done...
