Err, sorry to nit-pick, but calling this binary sort of breaks my brain. You've got three states. 0, 1, 2. That's not binary. Or you've got three states of an implied four states. 0/0, 1/0, 1/1, (0/1). That is arguably binary, but not minimalism because you then would have more than one bit and I think anything over one bit can't be called minimal.
