 This challenge was problematic for me to find a suitable subject, which seems odd, as the type of rusty crusty stuff I like lends itself well to this challenge. In this case however, I either had good light and an uninteresting scene, or a great subject and terrible light. Getting into an active industrial area is difficult, as everyone is concerned about liability these days. Easier to just say no. I had a couple of shots from Saturday's WW Photowalk that might be considered industrial looking, but they really didn't wow me for this one.

Monday I took several detours on the way home from work and it paid off. I drove around an old industrial area just north of downtown Fort Worth and ran into this photogenic (and abandoned) old brassworks. Facing due west, the early evening sun was hitting it just right and it all came together. I like when one scene from a session stands out to me and screams "this is it". This shot would have also worked nicely with some treatments I can't do under basic editing.



Anticipated critiques:
-Someone may feel it's a little oversaturated.

Oh man. You actually only needed one more vote to get a 6!
165*6 = 990
5.9939*165 = 989 (988.9935)

I remember debating whether to give you a 7 or an 8... and gave ya a 7. My bad :)

Heh. They say "brass works" and you say "brassworks" I wonder who's right :)

I like the rustic feel of this shot. I'm normally not an "I wish there weren't powerlines" kinda guy, but I do wish there weren't powerlines in this shot. I think you did well to make them as unnoticable as possible where it matters in the shot though.
Though maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the powerlines add more industry to the shot.
