 Some have asked how I was able to do hold the pencils in place like this. I used a styrofoam cut in shape of a rectangle, then I poked the pencils one by one into the styrofoam. That is about it. Thank you for the positive feedback and the votes.

Lovely colours, nice and sharp, and definitely a creative use of shallow DoF. I expect this to do well.

I like the idea. The shaving really give it a bit of extra character.
One thing that is a bit odd, my eye is actually drawn to the light blue pencil first. I actually had to really search around to find the focused red pencil.
