Challenge: Mythical Creatures (Expert Editing*)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Nikon D80
Lens: Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D
Location: Fresno, CA
Date: Jul 20, 2010
Aperture: 2.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/15
Galleries: Political, History
Date Uploaded: Jul 20, 2010

Two photos combined, foreground and background, both taken July 20. The cross was traced and cut, then pasted onto the background, 2 different layers. Then the usual editing of color, saturation, exposure, gamma, selective focus, selective gaussian blur, border, save-for-web.

Based on my predicted emotional response, I expect another brown ribbon, and a rousing blog under the photo. Yeah, Baby!

not proven! How do you prove a creature is mythical? hahahahaha

I agree, you cannot prove non-existance. But if you look for evidence of existance, you won't find anything like what you find in the Christian Bible.

Read "Holy Blood Holy Grail" and "The Hiram Key" and you'll see the ride they've been taking you on.

In ancient times, people worshiped the Sun God. The Sun was "The Light", "The Savior". As the winter days get shorter, an amazing thing is happening. The Sun is setting further to the south every day. Days are getting shorter. The Light is going out earlier and earlier. The Savior is dying! On December 22, it reaches rock bottom (Winter Solstice). The Sun sets in the same place on December 22, 23, and 24, indicating that the Savior has died. Then, on December 25, the Sun sets north of that rock bottom! Rebirth!! The Sun is born! God is born! Days are now getting longer! That's why the religions of Chrishna, Mithra, Horus, Buddha, Jesus and others claim their saviors were born on December 25. Another thing happens on December 25: From the constellation of Orion, the three stars that make up Orion's Belt line up with the sun! Do you know the name of those three stars? Western nations refer to them as "The Three Kings". Hmmmm, something's fishy here. The savior is born on December 25, and visited by 3 kings? (Three wise men in the Christian story). To take this astrological event further, it was/is personified with the crucifixion story. The savior, died on the cross, stayed dead for three days, and then was resurrected, and visited by three Marys! Another story from the same event! Yeshoua ben Yosef was the real person whom The First Council of Nicaea, called by Emperor Constantine in 325 CE, chose to be the savior of the new religion of Christianity. He was nothing like Jesus Christ. When you add all the miracles and other impossibilities to his personality, you've created a mythical character. What do I believe? I believe the people at the top of the churches know of its falsehood, but use it for power and control. "Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful." - Seneca the Younger (circa 4 B.C.E - 65 C.E)

I don't really understand the title... am hoping for some details in your comments section after voting. I like the bokeh and shallow DOF. (not voting)

proud to give this a much deserved 1. Shame it cannot be voted lower.

1. Not mythical, so DNMC right there -- although images of Christ are all inaccurate, but your implication is that Christ Himself is mythical.

2. A photo of a statue or other artwork without any other context is such a low level of difficulty....

really!

Uh oh, you are opening up a can of worms for the religious right with this one. LOL Love the bokeh.
