This bombed first time around so I figured it will bomb again but, I took a different perspective on it and changed the background because the criticisms where that the background wasn't white in a "light on white" challenge. The background is now white. The other criticisms were that the lighting was harsh on the plaster figurine so, I've tried to improve that and, there was criticism on it simply being a photograph of someone else's artwork. Well, that can applied to anyone who has photgraphed a gravestone or a statue or even a building because they are all someone else's "artwork" as well. However, I did see merit in trying to change up HOW it was shot to make it of more interest in some fashion or another. So, here it is.

Projected Criticisms:

Don't like the processing.

(not much done to it actually, other than cropping and lightening up the background).

Doesn't do it for me.

Wish I could see more detail.

Focus looks off to me.

Don't like the crop.

It's just a shot of a statue/figurine so, not much interest. (something along those lines anyways)

Wings are blurred/out of focus.

It would have been better had you photographed it in Iceland ;) LOL

Projected Score:

4.5 (at best)

I know that the white is harsh and I should have toned it down more or brightened it less. I'm new to masking and made my first attempt at it with this shot. I failed miserably with it. :( I made mistakes with the masking and wasn't accurate with it. I'm learning how to use it still. The original challenge was "Light On White" and I took criticisms for the background not looking white. I may have gone too white with this one now. Notes taken. :)

Almost 1.3 better than the original! I'd say that's a good improvement. This close up is definitely more interesting to look at than the first one. Nice job!

Not sure why this would need a validation! Nice shot.

J-Me's first entry, I like the grain but the pure white background seems a bit stark

I don't know if it was done deliberately, but there is a lot of noise in this image, particularly on the tips of the wings. A nice improvement over the original though!

I like the close crop of this better, but I don't like the graininess in the picture a good noise reducer would work wonders on this...JMO
