Challenge: First Entry (Advanced Editing VII)
Date: Jul 18, 2010
Date Uploaded: Jul 18, 2010

I felt lucky to find an orange colored flower, especially living in the desert where I do. I took this photo to honor somebody who has been a very kind friend to me. A simple photo search using the word 'Lillies' with only 'title' & 'challenge' checked would have lead a body to this photo

from digifotojo. Take care Jo, hope to see you around from time to time...

I was unable to locate an image with a title like this and the challenge description does say "The title should refer to the original" so I have to vote this a DNMC: 1

Hard to get this type of flower in total focus. Plus the light is a bit harsh and the background is a bit distracting. Love the color of the columbine though. I just bought a Plamp for holding flowers while you take the photo. It's about $30 and works great! I can put the flower where I want it and it holds still so you can get a good background and not worry about the wind blowing it around. It doesn't do any damage to the flower. Look on B&H website.

nice color, would like your background to be a bit more ooey gooey, but that given...this has good clarity

I'm not able to find the original on this one. Overall, this is an ok photo. Some things that could help it be better: Less distracting background, especially the lighter areas (to get this, you could have cropped and then used some advanced editing techniques to turn down background brightness).
