This was a very disappointing end result, but I ran out of time. Entered it due to the frustration it caused.
Good idea, mediocre execution.
Oh, and FWIW, this is the biggest DNMC you can have technically, but it was an something new and interesting to try. Hope it'll break 5.
An interesting note on what happened in this shot- I'm of course in the shot, wearing all black skin tight polypropylene with a black balaclava and black socks over my hands. My ice axe is suspended by fishing line from my hand so that my fingers don't obscure the head at all. I wanted to have my Nikon in frame, which turned out to be better for the composition, but worse for the execution. Because I couldn't seem to manually set the flash on my Fuji down to nil, I was forced to have the shutter on the Fuji open, then, whilst it was open, fire my Nikon, which would fire my two SB900's off camera. That is why you see the flash on my Nikon triggering. Background is just velvet. I would've improved my lighting a bit and bumped it up, but i wanted to keep it easy and legal to get rid of my face/leg/hands by dropping curves. The room for editing on the jpeg was really disappointing, and I hadn't shot a jpeg from that fuji in years, so crappy rendition of my right leg. Anyway, it was interesting. Next time, Nikon captures the shot. I got the damn thing for a reason lol. |
