And by the way. Good shot composure. With that shot I think it would have been very easy to make it feel very... cluttered or busy, but the eye is directed to where it's supposed to be. It goes over the rest of it as an afterthought, and there's a good atmosphere in the background too.

Now that you said you pounded it with the flash I notice the bright areas near the bottom of the shot.

I don't drink guinness much to be honest. I'm more of a beamish man. I'm surprised the light penetrated the drink! Failing that I'd go for Murphy's. Then Guinness.

I pounded it with a flash directly behind the glass. I know it was probably sacrilege to let the Guinness appear as anything other than jet black but I wanted to create some definition, even at the cost of it's reputation.

Effectively communicates that you work a job that isn't easy. I think you could have gotten an even lower angle here, or maybe pulled back a bit--the focal point (pint glass) is pretty low in the frame and could use a bit more breathing room.
