Self-portraits are fun, aren't they? Well, they CAN be fun anyway. The main issue with this shot is not your pose or you but the color cast. It is very red/yellow overall and that keeps your wonderful hair from standing out. It becomes one more red thing in a host of other red things. |

I would suggest trying f/5.6 or so on your next portrait, that way you'll have more DOF and those pretty blue eyes won't be so soft...

I think you should have done better as well.. This isn't a ribbon shot, but, it's much better than a 4.75 overall.
In any case, I think a much sharper eye would have helped set this off.. You have beautiful eyes, accent that and work with your obvious strengths... I would guess a selective sharpening of the eyes here and a small sat boost to the eyes would have made close to a 1 point difference.. That, and if you would have kept that thing out from in front of your face... Stop hiding and show us your wonderful face! |

I really think the score was unfairly low here. I gave you a 6--in its technical respects, this is respectably executed, and the crop lends interest to the composition. DPC voters are nutty sometimes... |

This is something I like! Something a bit different and someone not scared to use a full face portrait. Well done |

beautiful cropping to have hair framing the shot and such a pretty look to the smile and eyes. Lovely. |

I like the idea here, but I don't like the up close and personal-ness. Maybe this style shot would have looked a bit nicer (to me) in B&W. |

Good crop but the light is a little to harsh on your face. |

Pitty about those couple of strays over the left eye but still a lovely shot. 6 |
