This was a one off shot, one of 14 I took that day. I had taken a bunch in town the day before, but didn't like any for this challenge. I would have stayed longer, but there were two children jumping around in front of my camera, making it difficult to shoot.
I think this shot represents the "town" quite well (Monkey Bay is a fishing town, but obviously the fishing happens on the lake, not in town, so I didn't want to make myself a target for the DNMCers). Many of the building are made in much the same style as this one, and the main mode of transportation is bicycles 9second only to walking). There are very few cars in town and people always stare when one goes by. It's hot, humid, and dusty. I think the warm shift of the colors help translate the heat and the dust (when cars go by, they create yellow clouds of dust is their wake).
The only thing this image doesn't show is the large number of people walking around at any given point during the day. You would never see so many people walking around in a town this size in the States or most parts of Europe. For such a small town, it is always crowded! I didn't want the image to appear too cluttered, so I framed it with only one person.
