Greetings from the Critique Club :)
Jak,
I think this is a great photojournalistic image. It tells a story on its own without the need for written text. This looks like a situation of 'urban blight' to me from your image. We don't have a large number of noticeably homeless people in my community, so I don't really get to see first hand how they do live and behave.
This image could definitely be seen on the front page of a newspaper for support of a detailed article describing the situation.
I'm taking a slightly different approach to my critique on this image. The technical issues that I normally discuss don't really apply here. You have met the challenge with a very interesting photo. Whatever time of day you chose to take this shot was a good one... there is no direct sunlight that is blasting away at your colors and the deatail of the image is fine...

Good. I think a closer crop, just right of the pole, with less building, would be more effective. Still, 8.

| I like the title and photo. Go together real well. But I think B&W would have added drama to this shot. Maybe lighten it up a little and lighten the contrast some. Good composition though with nice subject. Very much where it's at today. Maybe try a B&W and just see. Just a thought and only my opinion. But good photo. PTL7 Feel B&W would have added a couple of points for me. |

| This is a good shot. Lots of color. Not taken in the harsh mid day. Wish you were a little closer. |

| A lot of strong diagonals in this shot! The foreground seems a little overexposed, but that kind of thing is common to photojournalism... Definitely on target for the challenge in a week when so many weren't... Nice catch! ~ MyQyl ~ |
