Challenge: A Is For _______ (Advanced Editing VII)
Collection: challenges
Camera: Canon EOS-40D
Lens: Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
Location: Monterey Aquarium
Date: May 9, 2010
Aperture: 3.5
ISO: 1000
Shutter: 1/60
Galleries: Animals, Water
Date Uploaded: May 9, 2010

This photo would almost meet basic editing as little was done other than cropping it, sharpening, adjusting levels, cloned out a bit of white specs, re-sized, neat image and sharpened for web. The amazing colors were not enhanced.

I can't believe it! Thank you Art, Kevin, Alice and Yo_Spiff and all the rest who commented after voting. Many thanks to the voters who commented and voted on my shot. This was taken on Mother's day and my husband bought me a years pass to the Monterey Bay Aquarium as his gift to me.

I hope that I can shoot a decent shot for my DPL team the Longshots as I joined during the off week.

It doesn't make me happier to have this upped to a red when I know the other person is hurting as it was her first ribbon too and it is so easy to make an honest mistake in editing.

These are also the subjects of one of my own favorite photos, taken on a "field trip" with Bear_Music nearly two years ago. I wish I'd been smart enough to enter it in a challenge!

Nice color and detail, good job avoiding/eliminating any reflections.

Congratulations on the ribbon!

Thank you for your comment Loran. However the Aquarium and this site - //articles.uwphoto.no/oversikter/Marine_biology_Cnidaria_Sea_Anemones.htm - list it as a type of anemone and that's what I went by.

I am still pinching myself this morning. I never thought I would win a ribbon on this site. Thank you all again.

Hi, I like very much the shoot. But I must say to you that it isn't an anemone, but a Cerianthus membranacea ;)

A is also for Awesome! I was hoping for the yellow, but there's no shame in getting beat by this! It got an 8 from me. I could use some tips for shooting an aquarium. My effort in that area have not been the greatest!

This looks like you included a bit too much in the frame. The two Anemone on the left would have made a nice image without the one on the right.

When my daughter was little, she called them "Sea Enemies". Extra points for the trip down memory lane.
