I take a ton of pictures at the local ice rink because of my involvement, and my kids' involvement, in the hockey and figure skating programs. This shot was taken during the figure skating club's annual spring show. Lighting is always difficult, especially when they shut the lights down and use only a spotlight, because then the exposure can be on or off, depending on how many spotlights are on the skater at any single time.
This skater's name is Rachel White, from Salt Lake City. She was the guest speaker for the club on Friday and Saturday night. She skated to the song Lady Marmalade from Moulin Rouge.
After importing the photo in Lightroom, I adjusted the various elements in the basic settings, applied some noise reduction and changed the crop, then in Photoshop I used the USM and added the border. That's it. |
