The intent here was great, but the execution is lacking essential technique. Do not despair, the experience will serve you well.

Personally not a fan of this picture. Your shutterspeed in both elements of the picture were too slow and your ISO was way to high by the very visible grain in the photo. Also i find the photo distracting because in the other exposure (people) There are several people that draw attention. In future i suggest you just shoot on a black background with a flash; then it won't add any data except your subject. Also on the flag i'm not sure if you were going for a rustic feel/ approach but the stripes look almost pink for some reason. So i would adjust my White Balence.

It has a news reel effect but balance between the 2 exposures is off and the flow itself has a ghost (i see double stars); may be I didn't get the idea behind it.
