Hello from the Critique Club-
I made a comment on another userâs similar entry for this challenge regarding fashion vs. advertising, so Iâll just paste that in here too-
âI canât decide what I think of your take on the challenge. I see the relation between your take (advertising) and the world of fashion. Anybody flipping through a fashion mag knows that 95% of the paper is advertising space, so the two are obviously inextricably linked. But is there a delineation? Iâm not really sure, I guess thatâs for the DNMC worriers to worry over.â
Some down voting might have resulted due to this-
As a photo, I like your shot. I feel like the slight desat and lightness contribute to and fit the mood of a wedding, so the processing was very tasteful. One issue I have, though, is your choice to depict the back of the shoes. I feel like fashion is intended to bring the viewerâs attention upon a specific object. The photography is about focusing us upon the object to be sold or flaunted, or even in some cases the focal point is really the model and the interplay between the fashion and the form of the human. But, I feel like the back of the shoe is really neglecting the majority of the item. I think your photo fits within the field of wedding photography very well, but doesnât crossover into fashion quite fully.
Good photo, but a slightly different approach would have fit this challenge better. I do like the shallow depth of field, but would like to see it on the front of the shoes.
