 With nothing scenic that I could think of near my house, I figured I'd try a new location and drove up to Kent Falls on the opposite corner of the state. I've never been there before, and we haven't had much rain for several weeks, so I didn't know what to expect. The falls were beautiful! The direct sunlight from a cloudless sky... not so much. I was shooting with a polarizer, two neutral density filters and a lens shade, with contrast dialed down in the camera and still had trouble handling the harsh light and flare.

Processing: Shot in RAW + JPEG in monochrome mode. The JPEGs were decent, but I converted from RAW with Fill Light / Recovery and boosted Definition to maintain as much detail as possible. Levels, Curves, Shadow/Highlight, USM and Photoshop's B&W conversion filter.

I haven't figured out how to make my photos look like this. I guess that's why you get the 10 and I get the 5 or 6. Nice work.

Just coming back doing some score adjustments (in your case up!). The tonal range in this image is spot on. You have done a really good conversion. The image itself is spot on too. Well done.
