With any inanimate object, you have to tell a story. In this case the artistic decisions you've made make it challenging at best for me to understand the story. I'm a big fan of shallow DOF. In this shot it doesn't really add to anything, and it actually distracts from a potentially good shot. I'd shift the angle a bit to get more of a head on shot. Lose the pin on the left since it's not telling the story. COnsider adding a photo of the recipient if possible. Put a face on the story. Use an old CG uniform as the backdrop? The lighting also has a very amber cast to it. You might want to check your white balance and make some adjustments.

Would have loved to know what the rest of the ribbons were for. Still, nice interpretation of the Challenge.

maybe the medals are valuable but the picture is horrible... very disturbing deep of focus. A 3

I would like this better with more depth of field. Great idea for the challenge, though!

nice idea

Nice concept. I think too many of the medals are out of focus. Just a tad more DOF to bring a couple more into focus and to make those first ones somewhat recognizeable.

It's disconcerting to have your eye pulled to the left for a focus, leaving most of the picture fuzzy both in focus and meaning.

The focus seems to be on the edge of the last medal so the other end is out of focus and the next closest edge is more in focus. could have focussed on the center of the last to just keep that one in focus... I am not sure if I explained it clearly though.
Nice work..

focus should be on one of the closer medels. great idea! 6

Sorry but I do not like the effect of this DOF

I do not like the DOF on this picture, if you wanted to have it this shallow, I would prefer the medal closest to me to be the one in focus.

picture hard to watch, too little in focus

Hmm, which medallion is it trying to focus on? If it's the first one then part of the ribbon seems out of focus.

I would have rather seen the medals up close more focused..and the medal that is focused..more blurry.

I love the idea and the message but i am not keenon the focus being so far to the left of the photo. still a very good idea though...6
