Could still be a tad strong on highlights...given that this is an advanced challenge I'd have toned it down some. Beautiful spot for a portrait however!

Very nice depth. Excellent setting. My nitpicky remark: The blue seems the tiniest bit oversaturated because it seems like I can see the blue affecting her cheek and shoulder. My really nitpicky remark: I so badly want to remove the hair from her neck. That has to be bugging her.

Hello, I'm commenting on entries in this challenge that I think will score within the top ten, and remarking on what I don't like about them. This is a visually remarkable image with a lot of perfectly complementary colours. It's dramatic for its well-handled light and striking vibrancy. Setup, though minimal, is lovely, as is the composition. Very nice. I don't like the forced metaphor you've presented (and reinforced with the title), and I feel this little girl's pose is very artificial. A niggle is the hard shadowline on her forearm. 8
