The contrast between the filled-with-light petals (they look made of glass) and the earthy reality of the bee & FG petals holds my interest. I like looking at it. The negative space is filled with energy & depth that complements the subject. Maybe the best shot of a Bird of Paradise flower, ever. 10

I tried shooting Bees this weekend and now have a much greater appreciation of a beautiful shot like this one. It is so hard. Patience is definitely a virtue in this endeavor. Very nice. A 9

I struggle with taking photos of birds of paradise. You did this very well: I love the pastel, washed-out colors from the sunlight and your DOF, which made the flower essentially out of focus. I think this image could have been composed a little better to see the bee more, but it still quite works well.
