No, absolutely not Louis. It's perfectly okay to disagree. Though I do think the better question to ask is, "Are you putting this forward as 'art'?". My answer of course is "No". It's just a really cool image I snagged while driving. Sometimes, there's no rhyme or reason why people like certain images more than others. Could really be anything that triggers a positive response - colour fields, light, subject matter... whatever, it's all good. I'm stoked this one piqued so much interest and I hope I can keep pulling these types of shots off in future. |
Nope, it's the sheep - that's what us Kiwi men like ;)
Oh hey, they're cows not sheep. I don't like this shot anymore - where's the button to unfav it gone ;)

To me this is Dali meets Hopper, and I love how the right side sweeps up into oblivion. |

As a possible explanation to Louis - this has a sense of ethereal suspension. Somehow, Rina managed to get the animals and the wee bit of fence suspended in time, whilst all around is motion. And suspended in a wee bit of magical light as well. The "that doesn't jive" feel of having part of the photo "stopped" and the rest still moving, along with the way cool light, is I think what does it for me. But as with anytying, your mileage may vary! |

Is my art appreciation sense broken? Is my critical eye half-blind? Everyone loves this, but on first viewing, it left me flat. I knew what it was -- a drive-by. I've seen some beautiful, engaging drive-bys that looked impressionistic, or surreal or dreamy, but this wasn't the best, in my view. It's merely interesting, and to be worthwhile for me, it must be more than that. It doesn't have the beautiful power of your awesome "Changes", or the impressionistic sense of your "Arpeggio", and seemed more like an exercise rather than a piece of art. I'm surprised by the reaction, but happy for you. Congrats. |

This is one of the best examples of this style I've seen from you. It is just so engaging. Maybe it's because of the sheep?
Perhaps it is time to get rid of those nappies and try some pull-ups - you're getting to be a big girl at this now :) |

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: My word, I love, love, love this! Love the whoosh; love the colours; love the clouds; love the subtle vignette; love the fence ; love the cows!
Critical stuff: Ummm....
Overall: Great image - had instant appeal to me (no need for me to dwell very long at all!!) |
