Location: washington, dc
Date: Mar 27, 2010
Aperture: 7.1

Galleries: Infrared, Fish Eye
Date Uploaded: Mar 31, 2010

Taken at the Kite Festival in DC with a tokina fisheye on my infra-red 300D. These are the natural colors that appear.
I did darken out the refraction caused by the lens aimed at the sun. There were a couple of spots, but nothing too nasty - I have no editing patience for that kind of stuff. In fact, probably could edit this more for a higher score, but what is the fun in that? I like taking pictures more than fixing them... BTW - this is how the world looks through my eyes. No, seriously.

Here is a blue one, as Paul mentioned, though this is a 'natural' blue rather than the 70's chroma I think he was looking for.
Most people like to convert infrared to more natural hues. In some cases, I agree with them. In some cases, infrared is better in black and white. I like my choice in this case - it adds to the surrealness of it.

I've never been able to take a good kite photo. You make it look easy.

Woah, that's some serious chromatic aberration, unless this is from a fish eye (which it most possibly is)... 5

Looks like a world in turmoil after a nuclear holocaust (or a new settlement on Mars).

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: This is a really striking image - so full of interest that I'm sure you had a whole host of editing options / choices of look here. I think your chosen treatment works well enough but it is the scene itself and the POV that carries it.

Critical stuff: Although the colour scheme works - I'm still not sure you're getting the best out of this image; something that is in colour with a blue / green 70s kind of coloration with a vignette would probably have been my choice - but hey, it's your choice and I do like it.

Overall: Interesting work - one that keeps a viewer's interest for a goodly while.
