 Lighting from a hotel bathroom (I was out of town and it was all I had). Dark bedroom behind gave a black background.

Your spot on with your lighting and pose here. Very classic portrait if a bit unimaginitive. Not sure I like the grain in this instance. Great use of negative space.

Lighting: Well balanced with good catchlight.
Pose: Pose is good, expression is a bit odd for a portrait. The DOF was a bit short, the right shoulder is blurred slightly.
Background: Very licely done black.

An interesting choice to use the relatively wild-colored plaid with a photo in which large blocks of smooth color predominate. I'm not sure if it was an esthetic choice, meant to convey something about the personality of the subject, or was just the only clean short available :) I'd like to see this with a solid dark blue or brown shirt for comparison. Lighting and focus and stuff look fine to me.

Perfect exposure with perfect lighting. Black background is very effective. Button the collar or put on a different shirt.

not much to say ... it's well done. The crop seems a little close on the right and maybe a little dodging of the dark areas around the eyes. Great Job.

Seems to be a pronounced yellowish cast to this photo, what was your white balance setting?

His jaw looks wired shut. The lighting and background are very good. The model needs to look a bit more relaxed.
